Annabelle came from a large-scale BYB who sold his 'stock' when he 'retired.' The buyer decided that Annabelle and some others weren't worth treating for heartworm, so she gave them away to anyone in the newspaper. Luckily a good-hearted lady read about them and rescued them.
She has now been treated for heart-worms and is living the good life in her new home.
